"The best kept secret of the Dandenongs" - Washington Irving
Hannah Schmidli, along with her band, will be gracing the stage at the Selby Folk Club this April.
At the age of 22, the dynamic singer-songwriter, hailing from the Yarra Ranges, is no stranger to the Selby Folk Club audience, having previously performed mostly as a solo artist. However, what makes this upcoming event particularly special is the rare opportunity to witness Hannah and her three-piece back band in action—a spectacle previously confined to city venues and the recent Maldon Folk Festival. Hannah has been carving out a unique path for herself, wielding her trademark golden telecaster and backed by a soulful ensemble, seamlessly blending jazz and soul elements into her indie/folk style.
Already boasting an impressive resume of festival and venue performances, including frequent shows at the Paris Cat in Melbourne with her band, Hannah has also written, recorded, co-produced, and released two albums and an EP. Her performances are marked by gorgeous lyricism and a profound connection with her audience, creating captivating moments on stage.
Hannah’s commanding and emotive presence is amplified by her incredible voice, insightful songwriting, and the vulnerability she shares with her audience. As she paints vivid pictures through her music, she effortlessly draws in listeners of all ages, inviting everyone on a captivating journey through the power of song.
Supporting Hannah is Cian Bennet:
