"The best kept secret of the Dandenongs" - Washington Irving
Wielding a cello and strikingly crafted vocals, multi award-winning songwriter Monique Clare delivers impactful indie-folk.
Her music embodies the cathartic lyricism of Björk paired with the rhythmic energy of traditional folk, set on a backdrop of classical training. Her candid stage presence is born from touring internationally with The Maes and playing cello for everyone from Kate Miller-Heidke to Eminem. Featured on ABC’s The Music Show, her acclaimed debut album ‘Sight’ tracks a journey through trauma and pain to growth and love.
Monique’s intrepid nature has seen her teach cello in Afghanistan, lead hikers for mountain top sunrise concerts, and represent Australia at the World Expo in Dubai.
With a smile as wide as the Cheshire cat’s, and an audacious tendency to reveal her deepest secrets onstage, her live show is offbeat and mesmerising.
Supporting Monique is TIG:
“Think of the emotional downpour from Olivia Rodrigo, consoled by the angelic Norah Jones” – Sheldon Ang Media
Tig has been making waves for her uncanny ability to evoke emotion in her listeners and tease out those unfelt things we bury deep down. “All the feels” is a phrase commonly buzzing around the room at the end of a show, and amidst the emotional turbulence, Tig leaves her audience feeling comforted with a sense of understood-ness. A mentee of admired Australian songwriter Ainslie Wills, Tig uncovers narrative in a delicate and descriptive way, reminiscent of her influences. After recording her debut EP ‘Inside Voices’ from home, the lush, introspective collection was finessed into its sparkly finished form with producer Jono Steer (Angie McMahon, Leif Vollebekk).
Having graced some big stages supporting the Pierce Brothers and Kim Churchill on tours across Australia, and recently opening for The Veronicas at Tones and I’s Music in the Park festival, Tig’s movie-montage-style show is one not to be missed.
